Val d'Isere is regarded by many as the finest ski resort in the world. It is easy to see why it has earned such a reputation, with its amazing variety of skiing, fabulous snow record and excellent choice of nightlife. Val d'Isere is linked with Tignes to form the Espace Killy ski area, one of the largest and most varied ski areas in the world.
Val d'Isere snow record: Val d’Isere has one of the best snow records of any ski resort in Europe. Almost all skiing in the combined Val d’Isere and Tignes ski area is above 1800m, additionally there are two glaciers ensuring that skiing is available throughout the ski season.
Skiing in Val d'Isere: Val d’Isere is well known for providing a huge variety of skiing particularly for off-piste and the more advanced skier. It is less well known for the large areas that are suited to less experienced skiers and beginners: there are several ski runs above Solaise and more above la Daille. Val d’Isere is sometimes not recommended for beginner skiers, however this is probably due to the steeper runs that lead back to the village: at the end of the day beginners might be better off taking a telecabine down from the higher slopes. Snowboarders in Val d’Isere have the benefit of snowparks and half pipes at various locations in the Val d’Isere and Tignes ski areas.
Val d’Isere chalets: Chalet Cristal is a magnificent ski chalet consisting of five beautifully appointed chalet apartments. Chalet Cristal was specifically designed for catered chalet parties and was built to high quality specifications. Ski Beat has installed Wi-Fi internet access for guests' use. All five chalets in Val d'Isere offer views of the pistes opposite La Daille including the bottom of the world famous "OK" piste, the home of the World Cup downhill "Premier Neige" which is run each December in Val d'Isere.
Val d'Isere nightlife: The heart of Val d'Isere dates back to the 13th Century.There has been a significant level of development in recent years with all new buildings finished in wood, slate and local stone creating an attractive and vibrant modern ski resort. Enjoy exploring the centre of Val d'Isere, which is partially pedestrianised, and discover what makes the apres-ski as famed as the skiing. There is something here for everyone, from brasseries to piano bars, from pizza to gourmet restaurants. The famous Dick's T-bar and the Cafe Face, along with many other popular haunts, are open late into the night for those who have the energy.
