At what age does a child qualify for discounts on a Ski Beat holiday?
We offer child discounts of £50 for children aged 2 to 11 years, although we only offer one child discount per full paying adult.
Will there be snow?
We have chosen resorts for their excellent snow records throughout the season. There are also excellent snow making facilities/snow cannons in all of our resorts.
Do you provide a ski hosting service?
Subject to French law, we will endeavour to provide a ski host on 2 days early on in your holiday. To participate, you should be able to ski a red run, although the pace on the first day will be gentle! If you are not up to this standard, we recommend you take lessons with the local ski school. Our Ski hosts are not instructors and are strictly forbidden from skiing off-piste with guests.
Single travellers & Under Occupancy supplements
All of our prices are based on twin occupancy therefore we have to charge under occupancy of any rooms which are not filled to this capacity. The price varies according to the chalet and date of travel rather then being a set supplement, so please call our office for a quote or use the live availability and booking section of our website.
What methods of payment do you accept?
You can pay by cheque, debit card or credit card. Please note, there is a 2% charge for Credit cards. Unfortunately we cannot accept AMEX, Solo, Diners Club or other chargecards.
Where possible, we ask Party Leaders to gather payment from everyone in their group, then pay the final balance in a single transaction, however if individuals are paying, please make sure they quote the booking reference, and know the amount they have to pay.
Do I need a photo for my lift pass?
All of our resorts are now using the hands-free chip card, which means you can keep your lift pass safe in a pocket when going through the lift turnstyles.
Most passes do not require photos - there are however a couple of exceptions, so please bring a photo if you require one of the following:
La Tania & Meribel - free passes only
Les Arcs - Lift passes for +72 yrs
Val d'Isere - passes valid for 8 or more days
La Rosiere - free child passes
Yes. You can find details of prices and pre-order your lift pass via our website: you will be able to select the lift passes you require for your skiing holiday, then enter your card details for payment. You will receive e-mail confirmation from Ski Beat France and your lift passes will be delivered to your chalet.
Alternatively, you will still be able to order your lift pass through our Rep during the transfer to resort.
Can I pre-book equipment hire?
Yes. If you are staying in Val d'Isere, Meribel, La Tania, La Plagne & La Rosiere, you can pre-book your equipment: just go to our Ski Packs page, which has information and links to the hire shops own websites.
Unfortunately our Les Arcs shop cannot offer this service. However, your chalet host will advise you on the location of ski hire shop in the resort when you arrive at the chalet. If there is time to go to the hire shop on the day of your arrival, you can do so. Alternatively the shops open early on Sunday morning so you can get your equipment then.
Can we ski on the day of arrival or departure?
Passengers travelling on the Gatwick 06.00 flight should be able to ski in the afternoon of arrival day. For any of our other flights, you will not be able to ski on either Saturday. Our ski pass page has more details to help you book the relevant pass. Please note that transfer times may vary due to flight delays and adverse weather - we cannot refund any part of a lift pass if not used.
If you are making your own travel arrangements you may be able to ski on the day of arrival and the day of departure. In this case, your host will advise you where to store luggage and will provide a room for changing. Please note the chalets are not accessible before 9am on day of arrival or after 4pm on day of departure for independent travellers.
What is Select Service?
In certain chalets Ski Beat provide upgraded cuisine. In additional to the usual breakfast, freshly baked croissants and pain au chocolat will be served. In the evening you will receive canapés & aperitifs (non-alcholic for children) before dinner and Cordon-Bleu style food with a choice of bottled wines. After dinner a cheeseboard with fresh fruit will be provided. This upgraded service is based around the catering rather than any other aspect of your holiday.
Is it possible to upgrade from normal to Select Service?
Our Select Service chalets are based around the catering aspect of your holiday therefore the staff that we employ for Select Service chalets is usually a trained chef rather than an experienced cook. It is therefore not possible to upgrade to Select Service, or vice versa.
Do we get fresh fruit everyday?
Fresh fruit is only provided in the Select Service chalets.
Can we all eat at the same time i.e. Adults and Children?
The evening meal is a 3-course dinner party style meal for adults and older children and is served at 8pm. For children aged 11 and under, Ski Beat serve high tea at 6pm, with child-friendly food. If you are travelling with children 12 years and older who require high tea this must be requested prior to departure - please tick the High Teas option on the booking form. If you are booking the whole chalet then you may all eat at the same time regardless of the age of the children.
Can you cater for special dietary requirements?
Yes, we are used to catering for any allergies and dietary requirements. Please put full details on your booking form. Please note that French supermarkets do not have the same range as British supermarkets, therefore if you have very strict dietary needs, it is helpful if you can bring a few items.
Can we smoke in the chalet?
All of our chalets are non-smoking, however Ski Beat staff will supply ashtrays on the balconies of the chalets as required.
Do the chalet hosts live in the chalet?
This depends on the chalet - check on the chalet page in the brochure or on the website.
All of our chalets have a digicode lock - your chalet host will tell you the code on arrival and will explain how to operate the lock. We ask that you close all doors & windows securely when you leave the chalet, just as you would do for your own home.

Are towels provided & are they changed during the week?
We will provide each guest with a hand and bath towel. For environmental reasons, towels will not be changed during the week.
Is it possible to have a childfree chalet for the week we have booked?
For guests preferring to stay in chalets without children, whether parents themselves or not, we may be able to arrange chalets with no children under the age of 11 years. Such requests must be made at time of booking.
Will there be a TV or DVD player in my chalet?
Only those chalets that mention DVD players have them, and the reason they do not state TV's is because they do not have television channels available. For chalets without a DVD player, it may be possible to hire one at a supplement. Please ask for further details.
All chalets have CD players for guest use.
We do not provide hairdryers in the chalet - please bring your own & don't forget your travel plug!

How do I contact friends staying with Ski Beat?

Can I just pay for part of the week in the Creche/childcare?

Do Ski Beat nannies ski with the children in the afternoon care?
Ski Beat nannies are not qualified to ski with children, and therefore they leave this to the qualified ski school instructors. The afternoon nanny will however be on hand throughout the course of the morning ski lesson for children booked into Afternoon care. The Ski Beat nanny will wait at the ski school pick up point and at the end of the lesson they will accompany the children back to a Ski Beat chalet for lunch and afternoon activities.
What equipment do Ski Beat provide for infants and young children?
Ski Beat can provide the following equipment if requested in advance: Cots, highchairs, baby baths, rubber bath mats, potties, Milton sterilising units, baby listening devises. Please see our childcare section for further details.
Do I need to bring a pushchair?
It is ultimately your choice, but in most cases we say no: Do remember that for much of the season, pushchairs are not practical around resort: there is snow & ice, steps and hills! Each creche will have a couple for use by the nannies, but these are not for hire. Some guests do choose to bring them - they can be useful at the airport, and can be transported on our flights.
|
|
Do I have to book a Ski Beat holiday to use the creche?
Yes, the childcare services are for use of Ski Beat guests only.
|
|
Can we pre-book seats on the flights?
You cannot pre-book seats on flights, as seats are allocated on a first come first served basis, therefore if you would like a particular seat we would suggest that you check-in early.
If we find our own flights, can we use your transfers to resort?
If finding your own flights, it may be possible use our transfer from Chambery airport to your chalet, if your flight arrives at Chambery at a similar time to ours. However, we would be unable to hold the coach if your flight was delayed. Please speak to one of our sales team for further details. Alternatively, our Travel section gives details of transfer companies from all of the regional French airports.
