Ski holiday companies and their guests are becoming increasingly aware of the need to be environmentally friendly.
To help offset carbon emissions caused by flights & transfers, Ski Beat offers a Carbon Offset Service. The price is £1.50 per return flight per person and includes the return transfer from airport to your ski resort. This service is offered in conjunction with the non-profit making Tourism Industry Carbon Offset Service.
Contributions made by Ski Beat clients in seasons 07/08 and 08/09 have funded an Engine Conversion Boat Project in the Lower Danube which is now in its final stages – we are delighted that our funds have already been put to good use and are making a difference. And we are even more delighted to announce that your contributions from next season (09/10) will go to a new project in the Chamonix Valley to replace a diesel generator with a hydro electric power plant.
For more details on the carbon offset service and our other environmental initiatives see our Responsible Tourism section. In October 2008, Ski Beat were awarded AITO`s 4-star Responsible Tourism rating: the best rated AITO ski company (from 29 that offer ski holidays). One factor in this award was the eco-friendly features built into a number of our ski chalets: Chalet Adelphine, Meribel (sleeps 6) and Chalets Pierra Menta 1 (sleeps 8/10) & Pierra Menta 2 (sleeps 14/16), la Plagne. These chalets have zero emission bio-mass heating systems; Adelphine`s water is heated by solar panels and the Pierra Menta chalets use melted snow to provide water where untreated water can be used.
