Chalet operator Ski Beat confirms that it will not be surcharging clients for Brown`s so called green move of adding £5 to Air Passenger Duty (APD) for short haul flights. This is in line with their policy of not charging any supplements: the price that is advertised is what you pay.
Nigel Oldham, Ski Beat UK director says “I do not believe an extra £5 APD will make one jot of difference to the average skier, it will not stop a single plane taking off. It is purely designed to boost the tax take. If it were designed for green purposes he would have taxed aviation fuel: this would provide further incentive to the airlines to cut down on the fuel used. Some operators will add it to the cost of holidays (either already booked or to be booked), Ski Beat continue to include it in their advertised price."
