Les Arcs Piste Guide

PisteColourDescription
Access Transarc Blue As the name implies this gives ski access to the mid-station of the Transarc lift that takes you over to Les Arcs 2000. Take care as you approach the mid-station: it is easy to end up a little too low.
Barmont Blue One of the most gentle skis back from les Arcs 1800 to Vallandry.
Cabri Blue A ski area cordoned off for beginners and children at the top of the Peisey chairlift out of Plan Peisey. It is an excellent and safe ski area with its own draglift and in late season better snow than down below. The chairlift can be used to go back down to Plan Peisey.
Coqs Blue This is really a connecting piste from the top of the Vallandry chairlift joining Maitaz and Myrtilles.
Flocon Blue A ski area for beginners and children at the top of the Vallandry chairlift. Often used for tests at the end of the week for children. The chairlift can be used to go back down to Vallandry.
Foret Blue This is a long track winding through the trees. It is not exciting but has some pretty sections. It serves a purpose allowing skiers to easily cross from the top of the chairlift out of Plan Peisey across to les Arcs 1800. Beware: Foret crosses many other ski runs.
Grive Blue An easy wide open blue piste from which you can join Foret to ski across to les Arcs 1800 or down to Peisey or Vallandry.
Maitaz Blue The first half of this ski run is a track through the trees. Once it opens out above les Arcs 1800 there a few fun bits to the side but beware the various crossroads.
Plan Bois Blue Mainly used as a connecting ski run on the way from the les Arcs 1800 ski area back to Vallandry and Plan Peisey.
Renard Blue A wide blue ski run at high altitude: the conditions really make you want to let go. If you are aiming for a particular piste or restaurant above Plan Peisey just make sure you get the brakes on before it is too late.
Retour Plan Peisey Blue From above the tree line you ski down say Foret and then join this piste which although initially resembles a track through the trees is about three piste bashers wide. When the ski run opens out a bit you can see the village of Plan Peisey and if wanted cut off to where you are staying or continue to the Vanoise Express. This last section can get badly churned up and slushy late in the season.
Rhodos Blue A very enjoyable blue with plenty of variety: there are a couple of steeper bits thrown in for good measure. A good run for accessing les Arcs 1800 from Vallandry.
Aigle Red Combined with say Perdrix this gives great skiing and snowboarding from 2300m down to Vallandry. Aigle itself is a long red run swooping down through the trees. There are plenty of turns as well as lots of opportunities to go off into the trees or to cut in to ski under the chairlifts.
Belette Red A good fast red ski run above the tree line. From the bottom of this piste you can ski or snowboard to les Arcs 1800, Vallandry or Plan Peisey.
Blanchot Red A fast open red ski run from the top of the Grizzly chairlift out of Vallandry. There is a good safe off piste area between this and the Perdrix piste.
Combe Red Start on the black Ecureuils and then turn left near the tree line. A lovely red ski run through the trees above Plan Peisey. It does not attract many skiers or snowboarders, probably because there is a long draglift to bring you back up. You can continue on a gentle blue run to Plan Peisey.
Morey Red Similar to Aigle both in terrain and opportunities to go into the trees but not so many turns. When arriving in Vallandry take care to stay high and left if you are wanting to take the Grizzly rather than Vallandry chairlift back up.
Myrtilles Red Another lovely red through the trees. If you are wanting to use this to get across to Les Arcs 1800 make sure you do not miss the turning.
Ours Red Ours leads down from the ski area above Peisey and Vallandry. The top half of the run is fast and wide; it holds the snow well all the way into April. The bottom half is not as wide so gets churned up more. There are several opportunities to rejoin the blue runs down to either Vallandry or Plan Peisey and the Vanoise Express.
Ourson Red A short section of red from Retour Plan Peisey to the Ours piste.
Perdrix Red Starting at the top of the Grizzly chairlift out of Vallandry at 2300m the Perdrix ski run tends to keep excellent snow conditions right the way through the season.
Ecureuils Black By black run standards this is not steep or difficult however it can be testing if taken as the last run down to Plan Peisey. Some great views across the valley to the Face Nord de Bellecote and the off piste skiing of la Plagne. In the right conditions it also provides a short off piste run back to some of the Ski Beat chalets in Plan Peisey.
Piste des Bosses Black A black mogul run but do not worry it is not too steep and the moguls are not usually very big.
