RESPONSIBLE TOURISM CODE OF CONDUCT FOR GUESTS

Before you go

Use the Ski Beat e-brochure rather than a hard copy
Agree to pay our carbon offset charge if you are using our flights
Turn down your heating etc before you go on holiday, so you are not wasting energy while you are away

On the slopes

Please do not ski through young plantations. Above 1500m in the French Alps it can take between 30 and 50 years for a tree to grow to a height of 4m.
Please avoid sensitive wildlife areas. Disturbed wildlife can use 10 times more energy than when they are resting.
Please do not leave litter on the mountain. Orange peel takes up to 2 years to breakdown, and cigarette ends up to 5 years. If you smoke please bring disposable ashtrays for when you are out skiing.

In the resort

Use public transport or walk where possible to reduce congestion and pollution.
Our chalet hosts will be able to provide you with information about local traditions and customs.

In the chalet

Do not waste water (particularly hot) in the chalets.
Heating: each extra degree of heat burns about 8% more fuel.
Please turn off lights when you leave the room. Where possible timers have been fitted.
Wherever possible recycle as much as possible; glass bottles, cans, plastic, paper & cardboard.
For environmental reasons towels are only changed once a week.
