Before you go
- Use the Ski Beat e-brochure rather than a hard copy
- Agree to pay our carbon offset charge if you are using our flights
- Turn down your heating etc before you go on holiday, so you are not wasting energy while you are away
On the slopes
- Please do not ski through young plantations. Above 1500m in the French Alps it can take between 30 and 50 years for a tree to grow to a height of 4m.
- Please avoid sensitive wildlife areas. Disturbed wildlife can use 10 times more energy than when they are resting.
- Please do not leave litter on the mountain. Orange peel takes up to 2 years to breakdown, and cigarette ends up to 5 years. If you smoke please bring disposable ashtrays for when you are out skiing.
In the resort
- Use public transport or walk where possible to reduce congestion and pollution.
- Our chalet hosts will be able to provide you with information about local traditions and customs.
In the chalet
- Do not waste water (particularly hot) in the chalets.
- Heating: each extra degree of heat burns about 8% more fuel.
- Please turn off lights when you leave the room. Where possible timers have been fitted.
- Wherever possible recycle as much as possible; glass bottles, cans, plastic, paper & cardboard.
- For environmental reasons towels are only changed once a week.
