Ski Beat's Sustainable Tourism Policy

Eco-friendly ski holiday companies and their skiing guests are becoming increasingly aware of the need for responsible tourism; respect for other people and the need to be environmentally friendly.

We at Ski Beat realise that the most environmentally friendly thing we could all do is to stop skiing or snowboarding and not go on holiday. We are more practical than that: we know that many people want to ski and snowboard; we believe that skiing holidays should be provided in a way that is as environmentally friendly way as possible.

Ski Beat has undertaken a number of initiatives to try to reduce the impact that we all have and strives to provide eco-friendly ski holidays

Our green initiatives include:

• The new digital Ski Beat e-brochure
• For 2010/11 brochures that have been printed, we have used materials guaranteed to have been produced from well-managed forests. Our brochure printers Midas Press have achieved FSC Chain of Custody Certification.
• Persuade builders of new chalets to use green technology to make more eco-friendly ski chalets
• Last ski season our flights to the Alps were ticketless, for next winter our ski flights to Chambery will also be ticketless. We believe that Ski Beat is the first ski holiday provider to make all its flights truly ticketless.
• Offering a carbon offset service with TICOS to help offset your emissions - see how your funds are making a difference.
• A review of airlines for your flights to the Alps, this is a huge and important area. We have checked the age of the planes to be used, the emission levels and the airlines environmental policy. To find out more go to Ski Beat flights and their environmental impact
• Eurostar to the Alps claims to be carbon neutral
• A review of major suppliers to check their environmental policies and local sourcing of supplies where possible.
• A Ski Beat UK office environmental policy and code of conduct
• A resort and chalet environmental policy and code of conduct
