About this Resort

The pretty alpine resort of Meribel is at the heart of The Three Valleys which needs little introduction as the world's biggest linked ski region and one of the best ski holiday destinations. It incorporates the resorts of Courchevel (including La Tania), Meribel and Val Thorens and with 169 ski lifts, 600km of pistes, 321 downhill skiing pistes, 1,512 hectares of maintained pistes and over 2100 snow cannons, you can be assured of quality skiing throughout the winter season.

The picturesque and vibrant village of Meribel has a traditional alpine feel, being largely made up of attractive chalet-style buildings in local stone and wood. Meribel has its own extensive ski area that provides easy access to the neighbouring ski resorts offering limitless action and terrain options, for which it is as famed as for its buzzing nightlife. This attractive Savoyard resort has long catered for skiers and boarders of all levels and tastes and has deservedly developed an outstanding reputation for delivering the best of the Alps both on and off the piste.

Snow Record

Thanks to natural qualities (altitude) and regular, ongoing investments in cultured snow production, The Three Valleys area is able to guarantee snow cover from the beginning of December until the end of April over the entire ski area, offering wide ski runs that are maintained nightly by 73 grooming machines. As well as the size, the ski area quality is crucial for skiers and boarders: the snow, maintenance, ease of flow, run quality and grooming, as well as the quality of the ski lifts. That's where the Three Valleys stands out.

The Three Valleys guarantees quality snow cover throughout the season: minimum skiable altitude of 1,300 metres, maximum at 3,230 metres, covering 85% of the ski area above 1,800 metres, 25 accessible summits including 10 over 2,500 metres and over 2,100 snow groomers servicing 1/3 of the ski area.

Skiing in Resort

Meribel Valley is central to the Three Valleys region, the largest linked ski area in the world. With roughly 150km of pistes, beginners can enjoy the tree-lined runs around the Altiport whilst leisurely skiers can take pleasure in the flattering boulevard pistes flanked by gourmet restaurants. There are plenty of challenging runs for intermediate and advanced skiers; higher up on the Saulire are steeper blues and reds which allow mixed-ability groups to ski in the same area. Over on the western (Tougnete) side of the valley is another good mixture of blues, reds and blacks. Meanwhile the notorious Courchevel couloirs over the ridge from Meribel and the Chanrossa bumps will keep even the most expert skier occupied. The Three Valleys also has vast off-piste terrain to tempt powder addicts looking to carve their tracks in deep, virgin snow surrounded by stunning alpine scenery.

Meribel benefits from a slightly more sheltered setting than its surrounding resort counterparts, resulting in calmer weather conditions which is perfect to enjoy the vast amount of pistes that lead back into the resort. For the braver skiiers and riders be sure to check out the world famous DC43 Park for some serious jumps, challenging rails, boxes and of course a halfpipe.

There are many cross-country trails to explore across 33km in the surrounds of beautiful alpine scenery and you can also roam The Three Valleys on foot, hiking along the marked trails, or using the pedestrian ski lift passes with many trails created and regularly maintained especially for snowshoeing.

Meribel is part of the world's largest ski area, The Three Valleys, which is composed of 327 marked alpine ski runs with 17% of green slopes, 39% of blue, 33% of red and 11% black. A ski area designed as much for seasoned skiers as it is for beginners and children. Plus everyone can enjoy the 42 fun zones and 9 toboggans run.

Après Ski

Meribel is world famous for its apres ski, with a vast selection of bars and nightclubs to choose from there really is a bar for everyone. If you are looking for a world class party be sure to head to La Folie Douce on the mountain followed by a stint down O'Sullivans bar and nightclub to really get that blood pumping (along with the music!) or if you fancy a quieter beverage in the incredible setting the Meribel valley offers try Evolution Bar, Cafe and Brasserie for a great coffee, fresh cocktail or even a bite to eat!

Apres isn't always about the bars though, Meribel plays host to a whole heap of activities and apres adventures. Why not try one of the many spas dotted all over Meribel or head over to the Olympic pool and ice rink for a quick dip or cheeky skate. Should none of that tickle your fancy why not go for a couple of rounds of bowling or a pilates or yoga session, Meribel has it all!
