Peisey Vallandry has excellent natural snow conditions, getting an average of 282 cm of snow per year, meaning exceptional snow conditions from opening right through to the end of the season. The Les Arcs/Peisey-Vallandry ski area is also equipped with 600 snow machines, which enables the resort to guarantee quality snow coverage and ensure the various links of the resort.

Best Time to Ski in Peisey Vallandry

Peisey Vallandry is an excellent ski destination for your ski holiday with an extended winter season, offering exceptional conditions from early December to the end of April. The resort's high altitude and advanced snowmaking capabilities ensure consistent, high-quality snow coverage throughout the season.

The peak season typically runs from late December to early April, when the resort benefits from the most reliable snowfall and the longest daylight hours. During this time, you can enjoy the full range of ski runs, from gentle beginner slopes to exhilarating black diamond runs.

Regardless of when you visit, Peisey Vallandry's snow-sure conditions, extensive ski terrain, and variety of winter activities ensure an unforgettable ski experience in the heart of the French Alps.

Other Activities in Peisey Vallandry

If you’re not into downhill skiing or just fancy a break then why not try some non-ski activities? Two Thirds of Peisey Vallandry is in the Vanoise National Park and for more than 50 years the resort has actively protected its natural area and its environment is taken into account with all new developments. Plan Peisey is situated on the edge of the forest, so you can often see wildlife in the area during the spring. Alternatively, if you want to enjoy a day in the heart of the National Park you can take the yoghurt pot lift down to Peisey Nancroix and from there you can take a free public bus to the Nordic Centre. Enjoy snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing, ice climbing or a relaxed, long walk taking amongst stunning views and local wildlife. Other activities such as horse sleigh rides, reindeer and husky rides are also available.

After the ski slopes close, there is no access to the other villages of nearby Les Arcs but you’ll have enough decent bars and restaurants to choose from and even a pool in one of the central hotels is available for use.

Skiing in Peisey-Vallandry

The Peisey Vallandry and Les Arcs ski areas can be accessed via high-speed lifts. From Plan Peisey, there is a high-speed 6-seater chairlift called the ‘Peisey’. If you’re staying in Chalet Petit Mont Blanc in Vallandry, you have a choice of the ‘Grizzly’ 6-seater chairlift or the New Vallandry Telecabine. At the top of these lifts, there are several blue and red ski runs that will connect you to Les Arcs.

Alternatively, you can enjoy the picturesque runs back down to Plan Peisey & Vallandry. Many of these great runs are tree-lined, providing natural protection from the weather when it closes in.

Skiing back home to Plan Peisey from other parts of Les Arcs, there is a choice of easy green, scenic blue or wide-open red pistes. Or, if you’re feeling brave, there is a black run that takes you right into Plan Peisey. Should the 215 km of ski range in Les Arcs and Peisey Vallandry not be enough for you, then jump onto the Vanoise Express right by our chalets in Plan Peisey and head over to La Plagne to do a full tour of the 450km Paradiski area.

Après Ski

Plan Peisey and Vallandry offer a slower and quieter pace when it comes to nightlife, although Plan Peisey does have a number of bars and restaurants to choose from. Vallandry, about 10 minutes walk away, offers further choices. Some of our popular recommendations include La Vache, a vibrant bar that does a popular lunchtime menu and somewhere to try on your host's night off, or if you just fancy a beverage after a hard day's skiing/riding, then head to Mont Blanc bar in Vallandry for a game of pool and a refreshing drink with some nachos. They also have a live band on most Wednesday nights, which creates an excellent atmosphere to enjoy.
