Ski Beat offer 9 chalets in the high altitude village of Plagne 1800. Most of our ski chalets in Plagne 1800 are stand alone and offer doorstep skiing.
Plagne 1800 is in the heart of the Tarentaise region with great views of Mont Blanc. Plagne 1800 is a great base for a family ski holiday, it is a self-contained village set amongst the pine trees just below Plagne Centre. It has its own ski schools, hire shops, choice of restaurants and bars. Plagne 1800 has great ski access to both Plagne Aime 2000 and Plagne Centre and with four pistes allowing skiers uninterrupted access back into Plagne 1800 you can ski very close to your chalet, even if it doesn't offer door step skiing.
As for Plagne Aime 2000, it is the highest of the La Plagne villages, it has the best views of Mont Blanc and surrounding Tarentaise valley and is very much a ski in ski out resort. With a blue run linking it straight to Plagne Center, a tree lined black run to Plagne 1800 and several reds, blues and blacks that take you through the picturesque tree lined runs down to the lower villages of La Roche and Plagne Montalbert, there is a run for all levels of skier and boarder.
La Plagne is a vast ski area in its own right. The Vanoise Express cable car links La Plagne with Les Arcs to form one of the biggest ski areas in the world: Paradiski.
With an average of 495cm snowfall each season over the last 5 years, and the average biggest dump of 47cm La Plagne is one of the most snow sure resorts in the Alps. If that wasn't enough, the Bellecote Glacier ensures that even in the event of a late snowfall or early end to the season just simply go higher and you can find some great conditions.
The La Plagne ski area has an excellent snow record, with snow still falling as late as June in some seasons!
The resort is well known as a beginner and intermediate skiers' paradise with an abundance of easily accessible nursery slopes and miles of motorway pistes. It is less well known for a huge amount of off-piste skiing which there is an abundance of, there really is something for everyone although truly advanced on-piste skiing is limited. La Plagne has a 225km ski range alone and when combined with Les Arcs to form the Paradiski via the Vanoise Express this increases to 435km so for those of you who love to explore, one of the largest ski regions in the world is definitely somewhere to visit.
Snowboarders and freestyle skiiers in La Plagne have the benefit of snowparks and half pipes above Plagne Centre and Plagne Bellecote, keep your eyes out for the natural pipes and incredible hips and kickers off the side of the runs too, there is a lot of fun to be had with these.
In Plagne 1800 there are several bars but the two most popular are La Mine and Bobsleigh Bar, for a bigger selection of apres-ski there is a free bus service from Plagne 1800 to Plagne Centre and Plagne Bellecote until late evening so you can enjoy some of the bigger late bars or even the nightclub, although be prepared to taxi home if you get carried away! If the stereotypical apres ski drinking isn't for you there are plenty of other activites, why not try a go on the only Olympic Bobsleigh in Europe (be warned, not for the faint hearted) or enjoy the Moonlit Ski with Oxygene, both truly are experiences not to be missed.
